About Olivia
It is with great honor that I tell you about the fire cracker of a woman that I have the privilege to call my Fiancé and soon to be my wife. The first thing you ought to know about Olivia Yurika Pulford is that she is an exceptionally strong woman as well as she has exeedingly high expectations as for how those around her conduct themselves. She will always be the first person to speak up when something isnt right and she will always be the person to help you right your wrongs. She has deep patience for those she loves. She has many passions, one of the biggest, is that absolutely nothing goes to waste and is the highest example of this I have ever encountered. Olivia's Japanese heritage is rooted firmly within her and she carries this with her throughout her life and emparts many wisdoms onto those who will listen. She is a gentle spirit, she will likely try to convince you otherwise, but, if you have the privilege, as I have, to get to know her, I’m sure you will see this as well. She is truly a credit to society and moves through it with intentionality and thought with everything she does.
About Christian
Christian is a thoughtful and generous man who cares deeply about the people around him. He will do everything in his power to make someone’s day a little better by being the only one willing to listen or gifting something tangible to help their situation. He is passionate about coffee and raw denim. His day starts with measuring and grinding sustainably sourced coffee beans for his (almost) daily pour over. He wears the same pair of selvedge denim jeans everyday until they are unrecoverable. The most unique thing about Christian is that he hand-forges custom chef knives. He is an amazing artist in all of his crafts: music, coffee, and forging. My favorite thing about Christian is that he dives deep into everything he cares about and everyone he is around. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him!
About us
Hello guests! This is Olivia! Allow me a few moments to share Christian and my story. We met at a tai chi class in the summer of 2022 through our karate sensei. I had recently decided that I was going to be a single pringle for the rest on my life, conquering the world with my ten cats. Then, insert Christian. I was immediately sceptical having made the decision I did. For some reason when Christian asked me to spend some time together I agreed. The first time we hung out, I was actually on time and I'm so thankful I was. I liked his sunglasses and was glad he didn't judge me for not liking coffee. I felt completely comfortable and safe around him. We talked nonstop for five hours but it did not feel like enough time for either of us. Later that summer I returned to my hometown of Littleton. Shortly after, I recieved a letter from Christian. There's no way he could've known this, but I had always wanted to write love letters. At this moment I knew this was something I had never felt before. I wrote him back and from that moment on we were inseparable no matter the distance between us.
After I returned to Grand Junction, we went mushroom hunting, took photos with film cameras, broke into an abandoned insane asylum, and introduced cool cats to Christian. There was not a single thing we did not want to do together.
On August 26th 2022, Christian took me on our first official date. Christian picked me up and told me absolutely nothing of what we were doing. We got in his truck and started driving. About and hour later I'm met with a view of the top of the Grand Mesa. Christian immediately got to work after telling me dinner was on the way. He set up a camping kitchen in the back of his truck and cooked a four course meal. He had made bread earlier as an appetizer, he then sous-vide a steak and cooked a traditional Italian pasta dish called Aglio e Olio (have fun trying to pronounce it correctly). For dessert, Christian made Peaches and Cream with almond milk because he remembered that I'm lactose intolerant. We then sat in a hammock together and watched a movie called The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
A couple of weeks after our first date, I left Grand Junction to prepare for my time in Japan. During the seven months that I was abroad, we video called every week and sent letters as often as we received them. For Christmas, I sent Christian some coffee candies and a handwritten letter in Hiragana - a native written Japanese language - and Christian sent me a knife that he hand-forged himself in a Japanese pattern called Go Mai along with some family garlic (that was confiscated by Japanese customs) and a video that he made with step by step follow along instructions on how to cook Aglio e Olio. I watched Die Hard for the first time during one of our movie nights, and we watched the Beauty and the Beast anniversary special on Disney plus. Occasionally, we did brunch/dinner dates where we would cook together and then eat together. We tried making a recipe for super fluffy pancakes, but they were not very fluffy.
In April of 2023, we were able to reunite in person to attend Christian’s friend’s wedding together. For the rest of the summer, we still lived in different towns, but it was much easier to call and visit each other. I spent a little over a week in Grand Junction around graduation. We watched all of the Harry Potter movies together and Christian showed me how to make fresh pasta to make Aglio e Olio again. At the end of June, we headed to X Lazy F Ranch for an annual family camp that Christian had been attending most of his life. On July 1st 2023, Christian took me to his favorite place on earth: a vast mountain view, burried miles into a rough dirt road in the Black Mesa of Gunnison National Forest. We sat on the ground and looked at the view of this magnificent mountain framed by trees. Christian turned around and asked me to marry him, to which I responded, "Of course!"
